FOR ALL CLASSES (Grades 7, 9, 10 and 11)

It is my goal to make the best learning environment for EVERYONE.
With your parents (or guardians) and other staff at school, I am here to help you to succeed in math and science.I like to think that I am a pretty easy-going and open-minded person.
The ONLY RULE I have for every class I teach is that EVERYONE SHOULD RESPECT EACH OTHER.
It means that there should not be any name callings, making fun of others, or interrupting others (including me) when they are talking.

It is terribly rude and makes the class long and difficult if I have to stop and ask everyone to be quiet all the time.
If you do not want to listen, at least, you can BE QUIET, so you do not interrupt other people who are trying to learn. If you have questions or comments, PLEASE RAISE YOUR HAND.

From now on, I will NOT BE responding to any questions or comments unless you raise your hand.
I am strict, but I am not mean.
If you show respect to me and other classmates, and try hard to learn and share your ideas, I am sure that together, we will make a great learning environment for EVERYONE.
Alright? :) If you want to share any ideas to make our classes fun and respectful, please don't be shy and come talk to me.

I hope you have a great weekend and I will see all of you on monday!

Ms.Kim

Grading Scale and Policy:
Points shall be awarded for homework, cooperative leaning (group work), quizzes, tests, exams, lab performance and participation.  Points earned shall be divided by points possible and then multiplied by 100 for each grading period.
Materials: 3 folder, small 1-subject notebook, You will need your text and notebook every day.
Classroom Procedures:
I have very few explicit rules in my class, except to say that we all must respect one another. My foremost request is that you do not talk while I am speaking, If you have questions, please wait till I am done speaking. It is terribly rude and makes the class long and difficult if I have to stop and ask everyone to be quiet all the time.
I do permit you to bring water to drink, but no Food or any other liquids in the classroom.
Your responsibilities include brining notebook, folder and pencil to class. Far too many students have terrible binders, poor-taking and no proper notebook and folder. I will help you pass this course using strict strategies for your own personal organization.
As well, you must hand in all assignments on time.
Textbooks must remain as it was found in the beginning of the class (NO HIGHLIGHTS, NOTES PLEASE). Mr.Z, the science department head, and I will be checking the textbooks throughout and at the end of the year.
MAKE-UP WORK:  It is the responsibility of the student to manage his or her make-up work.  You must get the assignments, take the make-up tests etc.  Do not expect your teachers to automatically inform you and schedule your make-up work.  You will be expected to use the course website and other tools to avoid falling behind.
